Where Does Your Froth Come From?

Living Water

It’s pretty hard to get stoked on flat surf right? Well, our spiritual lives can sometimes go flat too. Life can blow like an offshore wind in the Florida summer and knock us down to nothing. Is there visible froth and stoke shining out of your day to day life? Sometimes, even as Christians, when we are not walking with the Lord what we are expressing in our lives is not Stoke (the light of Jesus). People are seeing a grumpy salty surfer who does not have time for them. The more time we spend walking with the Lord, the easier it is to have this grom like froth for life. In John 10:10 Jesus says he wants to give life and life to the full. Jesus is our salvation for the hereafter, saving us from hell, but He also wants us to have a full life here on earth. That doesn’t mean we will have perfect glassy conditions all the time, but it does mean He will give us joy. Even when it is small, blown out and barely rideable.

In my life, my Dad is the ultimate example of someone who is always stoked. His prayer time, Bible study and time with the Lord really reflects how he approaches life. He recently broke his leg, and he could have been very depressed and let it weigh him down. But instead, he is out sharing Jesus and ministering to people the same way he was before. My dad hasn’t been able to surf, but still goes out to cheer on my youngest brother from the beach or bodyboarding with the biggest smile on his face. Sometimes the world or satan, throws some heavy curve balls but our walk with God is how we get through them. He gives us this joy, unexplained lasting feeling of happiness. In this Christmas season, I challenge you all to spend a little more time in prayer and in the Word. Read the book of Luke. I want you all to have the same STOKE as the disciples, where even in the darkest of places, the joy of Jesus fills your soul and shines out of you with the ultimate grom like froth.
