What does the Girls Surf and Share mean to you and the local girls?

Over the past month, CS Girls El Salvador hosted its annual CS Girls Surf and Share camp, welcoming 13 girls from both the East and West Coasts of the USA. This surf camp holds significant meaning in the lives of many.

The Vision: God has affirmed the vision and purpose of working within CS, using this ministry to build a community of girls who grow differently, love God, uphold strong values, and serve within the surf community.

Leadership: Partnering with incredible leaders like Colbi and Nina has been a blessing, as we learn to care for the girls spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

Local Girls: For local girls, being part of an international ministry is encouraging. As most of them are teenagers, they learn from peers with similar values and faith, understanding that girls in other countries also pursue a life with Christ.

CS Team: For the El Salvador CS Team, this opportunity is a chance to share experiences and testimonies that foster individual and team growth.

The Importance of Community and Service: Having people from other countries come to El Salvador not only to surf but also to serve the local community exemplifies Christian community at its best.

How did this trip impact your life/community?

This camp was a gift in my life. After many years in CS, and some as the CS Girls ES leader, planning this surf camp was a fulfilling experience. It showed me that it’s not in my strength but in God’s, and He surrounds me with brilliant people to work together for His kingdom.

God spoke to me about the importance of walking together. When girls/women support and encourage each other, remarkable things can be accomplished. We experienced this at the waterfall, where encouragement led to everyone overcoming their fears and jumping into the water.

Community: It was inspiring to demonstrate to the community the value of serving others, a core principle of Christian Surfers. The surf community recognizes Christian Surfers as a ministry that not only spreads the gospel but also takes action to help others.

What does CS Girls look like in your community and how are you involved?

CS Girls are integrated into every chapter, with four active chapters this year: Majahual, Conchalio, El Zonte, and K59. Additionally, the girls meet every other month for group activities, sometimes partnering with other local ministries. Most of the girls are between 13 and 25 years old.

Some of the girls are athletes who participate in national and international surf contests. During local, national, and international contests, CS supports the surfers by offering prayers before their heats and providing bananas and water.

The vision with the girls is to build local Christian leaders and supporting the surfers in an integral way, spiritually, moral, physical.
