Costa Rica Surf & Serve

Published: Thu Sep 14, 2023

Category: Surf & Serve

Trip/Event Date:
Thu Jul 18, 2024 - Wed Jul 24, 2024

**REGISTRATION CLOSED** Come join us for an awesome opportunity to share the love of Jesus with the beautiful people and country of Costa Rica. We will be partnering with CS Costa Rica and serving alongside them. We will have plenty of time to enjoy the great waves and warm water as well. We will have a decent paced week that all ages can handle. Food, transportation in Costa Rica, lodging, and all programming will be taken care of.

HAVE QUESTIONS?

We are so stoked that you are interested in joining us on a trip!
Take a look below at some of our frequently asked questions about our trips.

What will the typical day on this trip look like?

Wake up for an optional morning surf, breakfast, small group discussion time, alone time with the Lord, lunch, serve the local community in all kinds of different ways (surf lessons, painting the local school, serving the local families, running a vacation bible school), dinner, and then debrief day.

As a team we value team time as well. We will also have time to see the beautiful country (hikes, beaches, sunsets, visit local church, etc). We will have plenty of team time where we get to share from God’s word, hear each other’s testimonies, pray for each other, and build long lasting friendships with the rest of the team.

What are the waves like and what skill level should I be?

Surf is for all levels from beginner to advanced, beach breaks, point breaks, warm water, and very friendly surf culture.

What if I can’t surf or the waves are flat, is there something else I can participate in?

If you do not surf, we will have other opportunities to connect with locals and fellow team members that don’t surf. We will also be traveling to see other parts of the country on a couple of days.

What are the sleeping accommodations like?

This trip is geared towards families and the sleeping arrangements will directly reflect that. Most if not all the rooms will have AC, comfortable beds, a shower, flushing toilets, and 3 great meals a day.

When will registration open? How much will the trip cost?

March 15, 2024 registration will open. Space is limited on this trip so please be ready to sign up on March 15th. If you have any questions please contact us prior to this date.

All of our trips at Christian Surfers we do our best to keep the cost as affordable as possible. We want this trip to be between $1,100-$1,500. We are still working on the exact details so we do not have the exact amount yet.

What does the registration fee include and not include?

Registration includes all of the ground costs including: transportation, 3 meals a day, snacks, drinking water, sleeping arrangements, extra ministry supplies, and blessing the local community in several different ways.

It does not include your airfare, board bag fees, extra drinks and snacks from the gas stations or local store, any souvenirs you may want, a tourist visa if needed, and travel insurance.

What if I can’t make it last minute, do I get a refund?

There will be a non refundable deposit of $200 to hold your spot, the remaining balance once paid is locked in a month before the trip start date. Due to the efforts of planning on our team and the accommodations that will be booked ahead of time, a full refund is not available within a month of the trip.

Can I bring my kids on this trip?

Yes we strongly recommend bringing the whole family. This trip will have a pace that is great for a family.

When should I buy my flight and what airport do I fly into?

We suggest buying your flight between 3-4 months prior to the trip for the best prices. We will narrow the times when you will need to arrive after we have secured our team. We want everyone arriving around the same day and time to make transportation as smooth as possible.

Will I need a wetsuit and what kind of board should I bring?

You can bring any type of board you normally ride. We will be surfing mostly beach breaks with a couple possible point breaks as well. Water temp is usually around mid to upper 70’s. So maybe just a wetsuit top or a spring suit if you get cold easily. You will definitely want a rash guard and plenty of sunscreen.

Is Costa Rica safe?

Yes, Costa Rica has been known as the safest Central American country in Central America for many years. Most people speak both English and Spanish. We will have a great team of leaders who have lots of experience leading teams and traveling in Costa Rica. Your safety is a top priority and this is a very good first mission trip to go on to gain experience and confidence serving God in another country.

Still need more information? Please feel free to reach out and get connected with one of our team leaders who can help answer any additional questions you may have.
