El Salvador 2013

CSUS has partnered up with CS El Salvador and will be bringing a team there this summer.
From Saturday, July 13 – Saturday, July 20, 2013, we will be working together with local missionaries to make an impact in the beach community for God’s kingdom. Here is a look at some of the practical ways that will happen on the trip:
-Working at a local orphanage
Walking distance from the house is REMAR home. Over one hundred children, from babies to teenagers, live there. There is plenty to do when it comes to caring for the little ones. Extra hands will be welcome to help with laundry, kitchen work, housekeeping, cleaning the pool and many other tasks. The kids will be stoked to play soccer and other games. This will be a great opportunity not only to meet practical everyday needs, but also for spiritual conversations. It will be a busy day; but definitely worth it.
Included in the cost of this trip is money to buy cookies and refreshments for the kids.
-Feeding program and food distribution
Mr. Orlando is the pastor of a very poor church in a local beach community. Every day, his wife and other local ladies cook a very basic lunch for over one hundred kids from the surrounding area (often the only food they have that day). On one of the days while we’re there – lunch will be on us… We will either help them cook or buy it at the local burger or chicken restaurant. While the food is being prepared, we have time for spiritual conversations, playing games and loving on the kids, or even helping clean the church.
Included in the cost of the trip is money to buy the food for that day.
-Christian Surfers meetings
Every Friday and Saturday, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm they have Christian Surfers meetings in El Tunco and El Zonte surf breaks. We hope to take this opportunity to fellowship, encourage and edify our brothers and sisters working to connect surfers to Jesus in El Salvador.
Included in the cost of the trip is enough to help with the snacks and drinks for the night.
-Beach outreach
We would like to bless some of the local community and Christian Surfers by hooking them up with some free ding repairs. A few guys could work together patching small dings on local kids’ boards. just another opportunity to serve and love local surfers in the community while surfing and hanging out together.
The ding repair supplies have already been donated. Praise the Lord!
-Having fun
Yes, we will be busy at times serving and working in the community, but because of God’s great love for us we can worship and serve Him with gladness. And because we are surfers – it will definitely be fun! We’ll take every opportunity to get plenty of waves, experience El Salvador, and spend quality time each day in the Word individually and together as a team.
-Cost of the trip
The cost includes lodging in a safe, comfortable house (with a pool), all meals while in the country, transportation to/from airport, to/from ministry opportunities and surf spots. All of this, along with funding the ministry opportunities above, is only $129.00 per person, per night.
$129.00 x 6 nights = $774.00
Airfare is not included.
