Discipleship – Practically every ministry opportunity or time spent with other believers is an appropriate time for discipleship to occur. The purpose of spending intentional time in the Word together, studying things like Jesus’ character and priorities for example, are crucial to not only our individual walks with the Lord but also to the mission of mobilizing surfers to reach other surfers with the Gospel. If you decide to go on a CS trip with a discipleship focus, be prepared to spend some time studying practical ways to follow Jesus.

Local Ministry Support – Sometimes there are chances for us to partner with existing ministries in order to love a certain people group that we would otherwise not be in contact with as well as encourage those faithfully serving there. In most cases this will only apply to international mission trips. Our aim when partnering with local churches and ministries is to support what God is already doing there instead of trying to create our own new thing from scratch.

Local Chapter Investment – God has placed our chapters in many different settings; we are spread throughout the coastline in varied contexts, but all with the same mission: “To see every surfer in the United States connected to Jesus.” Our mission will be achieved by awakening surfing Christians to spiritual awareness and mobilizing them to become active in the mission. We are a team, working together, and it just makes sense that we would choose to invest time and resources into serving, helping and loving each other.

Chapter Planting – Keep your eyes open when surfing or serving at a beach where there is not a local chapter of Christian Surfers loving the lost surfers there. Be sure to represent Christ well and if you meet a believer while you’re there, begin to build a relationship with them.  Pray that God will use both of you to make disciple-makers at that break whether He leads to starting a chapter there or not.

Be Salt and Light / Love God / Love Surfers

Matthew 5:13-16 – You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 22:37-39 – You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
